The Nutrition Services team is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals who are dedicated to student health, well-being, and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.
Amador County Unified School District participates in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program. All Amador County district schools will participate in the Community Eligibility Provision program (CEP), and all students enrolled in on-campus classes will receive a FREE breakfast and lunch meal. This means that federal meal applications will not be required.
Please note: the district will be requesting Household Income Data Collection Forms from households with a student enrolled in the district. This form is strictly to determine district and site funding. Receipt of free breakfast and lunch meals does not depend on returning the form, but qualifying families can receive many other direct benefits from filling out the form, including utilities discounts and free after-school childcare.
School meals follow the standards set by USDA. Whole grains, lean proteins, dairy, and fresh fruits and vegetables make up the meals that give students nutrition for learning and lifelong good nutrition. Current guidelines for lunch require us to offer 5 components daily - fruits, vegetables, whole grains, meat/meat alternates, and milk. A student must take at least 3 of the 5 required components, and at least 1 of those 3 must be a fruit or vegetable.
